Nature Nurtures

Mark Burkett and Jeanne McLeish display works of art inspired by the abundant beauty of the natural world.  More than forty oil paintings, watercolors and woodcut prints of national, state and local parks where they enjoy plein air painting make up this exhibit. Nature lovers as well as art appreciators may find images that  evoke pleasant memories and allow their thoughts to escape to the great outdoors.

Meet Our Artists
Mark Burkett is a painter and printmaker.
He was encouraged in his interest in art from a young age by his family and teachers. He spent his childhood in Monrovia, Indiana and attended Indiana State University where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and specialized in printmaking. Besides private collections his work can be found in the Indiana State Museum, Swope Art Museum, Terre Haute, Ind., Richmond (Ind.) Art Museum, Columbia Club of Indianapolis, and the National Park Service. He is a member of the Brown County Art Guild, Indiana Artists Club, and the Hoosier Salon. He enjoys plein air painting the natural world.
Jeanne McLeish was born in Clinton, Indiana and began painting in 1970.
Working in both watercolor and oil, she creates images that reflect her deep love of nature as well as her fascination with color and light. Her paintings have been included in numerous annual exhibitions including the Hoosier Salon, Indiana Heritage Arts, Watercolor Society of Indiana, Indiana Artists Club, Wabash Valley Exhibition, Realism Today, and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. Awards include Best of Show in the Watercolor Society of Indiana 2004, the Indiana Artists Club Annual 2009 and First Brush of Spring in New Harmony, IN in 2012, View Point 48 in 2016 and the IPAPA Member Exhibit in 2018.
