The Best of Regional Art Comes to Plainfield this August!
Our Hendricks Live! Art Exhibition is an annual art invitational showcasing the best of the visual arts. The Hendricks Live! Art Exhibition is committed to celebrating the rich heritage and cultural traditions of diverse populations to cultivate community engagement and build the county’s reputation as a creative, dynamic, and vibrant region to live, work, and play.

First Place: $1,500
Second Place: $750

Eligible Submissions

Open to all artists over the age of 18 who live in Indiana. Each artist may submit up to TWO 2-D works which may not exceed 60 inches in any direction and may not exceed 50 pounds. Works must be original, completed in the last two years, and have not previously won or been awarded a prize in any regional judged or juried shows.

 

Ineligible Submissions

Works created in class or under the supervision of an instructor, copies of another artist’s work or published photographs, photography or digital art. Pieces previously submitted to Hendricks Live! Art Exhibition will not be accepted. This event is for painted submissions only. Pieces submitted must be original paintings, not paintings with added print, or print only.

 

The Fine Print

  • There is a $40 entry fee per submission up to two paintings.  Once you pay the entry fee, you will receive a submission link via email.
  • Only original paintings will be accepted. Previous entries from the 2024 Hendricks Live! Art Exhibition are not eligible for submission.
  • Works may be for sale, but this is not required for entry in the exhibition. Hendricks Live! will retain a 30% commission on any sales.
  • Artists will be responsible for the delivery and the pickup of artwork of artwork to Hendricks Live! (200 West Main St, Plainfield, IN). Artists may not remove any artwork before the close of the exhibition.
  • Artwork must be properly framed with secure wire. Sawtooth hangers will not be accepted. Works on paper must be framed under glass or plexiglass.
  • Hendricks Live! will provide insurance on all works while exhibited based on the sale price up to $5,000. Hendricks Live! will not be responsible for damage during transit to or from the exhibit, and HL! is not responsible for damage caused by poor wiring or framing.
  • To comply with state law, artists will be required to provide taxpayer ID or SSN if they win a prize or if their work sells for more than $600.

Hendricks Live! Art Exhibition is a collaboration with the Hendricks County Arts Collective, Hendricks Live!, Plainfield artist Brian Russelburg, and an artist advisory committee of respected Hendricks County artists. The idea was conceived by Brian Russelburg as a way to highlight and celebrate the phenomenal local talent in Hendricks County while bringing high-caliber visual artists and attracting visitors to Hendricks County.

2025 Juror: Tom Post
Tom Post is a nationally recognized artists who has been professionally creating art since 1987. He studied at the Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus, Ohio receiving a BFA in both Fine Arts and Illustration. His body of work runs from personal portraits to murals in the Cincinnati area. Tom has continued his education by taking workshops with renowned national and international artists such as Quang Ho and John Micheal Carter. As a Signature member of the Cincinnati Art Club, Tom Post along with nationally renowned pastel artist Ray Hassard have run a critique group since 2019 at the Cincinnati Art Club/ Their coal is to help artists along their personal journey of crating art. Tom is a frequent guest instructor at the Cincinnati Women's Art Club, the Cincinnati Art Club, and the Cincinnati Women's Club. His work is in private and corporate collections. "My search for color, shape and line harmonies to capture the energy and ambience of what makes life so beautiful has been a driving force in why I create art." - Tom Post
2025 Juror: Chuck Marshall
Nationally known native Ohio artist Chuck Marshall developed an early love and respect for the outdoors and art. Chuck knew he was going to be an artist from a very early age. He would spend hours each day sketching images of fields, hillsides, and animals that he would see while roaming the countryside. Chuck studied at the Art Academy in Cincinnati before moving to and studying at the California Art Institute in Southern California. He has studied with various artists which he feels has helped him to develop who he is as an artist. His art career includes many years as an illustrator and graphic designer as well as his fine art. Chuck has been invited to and participated in many national plein air events such as a guest artist for the Plein Air Convention and Expo as a faculty field painter, Olmsted Plein Air Invitational, in Atlanta Georgia, Door County Plein Air, in Wisconsin, Great American Paint Out, in the Apalachicola/ Panhandle Florida area, Wayne Plein Air, in PA, En Plein Air in Texas, and Finger Lakes Plein Air in New York, where he won best of show twice. Recently Plein Air Smokies in Tennessee, where he won best of show for the quick paint. He is a member of the Rocky Mountain Plein Air Painters, American Impressionist Society, and Oil Painters of America. Chuck’s work has been published in International Artist Magazine, American Artist Magazine, and Plein Air Magazine. He has won numerous local and national awards, and has also performed as a judge in many local and national juried art shows. As of recent his work can be seen at the Art Enclave, in Mason Ohio, Mary Williams Fine Art, in Denver Colorado, Crown Gallery in Blowing Rock North Carolina.
